Regardless of riding ability, all riders new to Stakehill Equestrian must complete a beginners assessment lesson before enrolling in regular group classes.
You’ll need to book and pay for each rider separately. We offer discounts for siblings and multiple rides per week – contact us for your discount code!
To secure your spot, you need to arrange payment for your lesson(s) upfront at the time of booking.

Boots and helmets are available for free loan SHORT TERM ONLY. Please note we only have a small selection of boots and helmet sizes which may not suit everyone. After a few lessons if you are continuing to ride you are expected to purchase your own.
Boots must have a flat sole and small heel – NO SNEAKERS
Helmets must be Australian Safety Standards 3838 and less than 5 years old
Riders must wear long comfortable pants, leggings or jodphurs, and tops/tshirts with sleeves (no mid-drifts showing or singlets), no jewellery (apart from sensible earrings) and hair tied back.
Arriving late to your lesson does not mean your riding time will be extended. You need to arrive ideally 10 minutes before and be ready to ride at your lesson time.
Public holidays ARE included in your term bookings and lessons will run on these days unless otherwise advised.
We do not offer make up lessons for missed lessons. Arrangements can be made at the start of a new term, but cancellations are not reimbursed or rescheduled.
Yes, we only have ponies and horses up to 15hh and therefore can only cater to a maximum weight of 85kg. Please do not be offended when asked for weight and height during the booking process, this is for the horses capabilities only.

Level 1 (Beginner)
New or minimal riding experience

Level 2 (Novice)
Riders who are capable of trotting solo off the lunge, steering, stopping, turning solo. Ready to join a small riding group.

Level 3 (Novice/Intermediate)
Riders capably riding in main arena, progressing to Canter, Poles and small jumps.

Level 4 (Intermediate/Capable)
Cantering, jumping, games, handling horse. Progressing along with handling and gearing up own horse.

Level 5 (Capable/Efficient)
Riders who are competently gearing up own horse, ready to progress along into pony club and horse events.
